'''Kiriben です''', commonly known as '''Kiriben''', is a Minecraft server started on the 12th of October, 2020. It consists of a primary world with the original settlements and capital, and several secondary words. Villager towns also operate as antonymous areas, which are slowly being upgraded with nicer accommodations and less scuff.

The server runs within a local FreeBSD VM named Minako Aino, who oversees the server with her OpenZFS consistency checks. She is named for the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codename:_Sailor_V Codename: Sailor V character], and currently runs [https://papermc.io/ PaperMC] and [https://www.wireguard.com/ Wireguard].

Hostile mobs were [https://minecraft.wiki/w/Difficulty#Peaceful driven away] from the primary world to a [https://minecraft.wiki/w/Difficulty#Normal secondary resource server], which are used for training, XP farming, and procurement of tasty, tasty loot.

==Etymology==
The English name ''Kiriben'' was a slapdash [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portmanteau portmanteau] of the two server founders and their online handles. The formal name is always prepended with です, for no practical reason whatsoever.

Prior to having a formal name, she was known colloquially as ''The Server'', or by her [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostname hostname] <code>aino</code>.

==History==
The Kiriben server was started on the 12th of October 2020, on an old HP Gen8 Microserver. Not understanding time, the server was left running before the regents joined, resulting in their immediate termination by night zombies.</p>

Kiriben was started after watching Hololive Myth's legendary group tunnel Minecraft stream. Rubenerd had vowed never to play the game on account of his uncontrolled obsession with other worldbuilders like the <em>SimCity</em> franchise as a child. The Covid pandemic lockdowns offered a perfect excuse.

Both regents were inspired by CallMeKevin's One Chunk Challenge in August 2021, which spawned the creation of two hostile worlds where the same limited game rules were applied. These were later connected to the primary world using MultiVerse portals, and later MyWorlds.

In late 2021, the server was migrated to a new FreeBSD box built from second-hand Supermicro workstation parts in an Antec Three Hundred case, cooled with large and quiet Noctua fans. She has run in this configuration since.

In early 2022, the regents saw Hololive Myth's world seed being disseminated (<code>3971198378293864095</code>), and used it to spawn another connected world for nostalgia, and possibly to recreate some of the server's structures. They're also tempted to try Hololove JP's large biomes (<code>7446817129392670718</code>) server.

In January 2025, a hostile world was connected for the purpose of farming blaze rods for eventual travel to ''The End''. Kiriben's End Portal was activated later that month, and the Ender Dragon was defeated! The first End City, dubbed ''Purple Moon Cheddar'', was found in February, along with an Elytra and Shulker Boxes.

==Geography==
The primary map of the Kiriben server has (what is understood to be) uncharacteristically high amounts of water, oceans, and lakes. The primary settlement of Konnyaku was first built, as the name suggests, on a flat plateau, but since expanded across the ''Gura Peninsula''

The landscape is unaltered as much as possible, instead building around natural formations and extending out platforms if a coastal structure is required. The one exception was the Suntec City complex, which required excavating a large series of hills to fit anywhere.

One desert beneath Konnyaku has since been manually terraformed into another plains biome for planting trees and building more structures, while keeping the same coastline and hills. This has been dubbed ''Shin-Konnyaku''. Cactii and desert animals were relocated to a new reserve nearer to Arcadia.

The original world was limited to four maps in anticipation of the 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update, which changed how worlds are generated.

==Economy==
While primarily operating in peaceful mode, Kiriben otherwise doesn't use cheats for procurement of resources. Everything has to be mined, grown, fished, chopped, or spawned manually in survival mode. This has been a pain whenever {{User|Rubenerd}} has one of his ridiculous build ideas, but it's also oddly therapeutic to mine a hole for no reason.

Kiriben's equivalent of "strip mining" is the underground construction of the ''Kiriben Rapid Transit'' train system, which always uncovers stuff.

==Transport==
Each major settlement in Kiriben has an overengineered underground ''Kiriben Rapid Transit'' (KRT) system, with stations and colour-coded lines. The Nether is also used for the ''Shinkansen'', for faster travel between remote points on the map. Both these systems are enclosed with glass and doors to prevent mobs getting inside.

A novelty airport exists in LEGOLAND in ''Shin-Konnyaku'', but is completely pointless.

In 2023, Kiri and Rubenerd took the first non-stop boat ride between ''Shy Guy Beach'' and ''Shin-Konnyaku'' through the two large oceans and a small river. The trip took 45 minutes.

In February 2025, Kiri and Rubenerd farmed enough on their hostile map to venture into the End, and to gain Elytras.

==Government==
Kiriben is a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diarchy duumvirate] with co-regents, overseen by Queen Minako Aino, the server herself!

They are advised by The Diet (Cola) consisting of a large number of multi-coloured Bear Cats.
