These life guides are completely accurate and factual, except when they're not.
Finance
- Money is hard. If you're spending less than you earn, you're already doing great
- Set up automatic savings/investment deposits if you can. The best are the ones you don't even notice, but will still accrue over time (advice from Jim Kloss).
- Recurring payments are the devil. Cull them, and be hawkish about introducing new ones!
Replies you can ignore
- Ones that are deliberately obtuse
- Ones that end with an ellipsis (…)
- Ones written in bad faith
Things that are unquestionably true
- Most rules have exceptions
- You have worth
- You should do no wrong, but take no shit
- You probably will finish that bag of crisps even if you're not hungry
Things you don't have to do
- Beat yourself up over something, rather than learning and moving on (let me know if you learn how)
- Justify your hobbies!
- Respond to demands from strangers in email or social media
